Workflow steps
- 1Shoot flat or logCapture in a flat or log profile to maximize grading flexibility. You cannot recover crushed shadows from baked-in profiles.
- 2Apply a base LUTConvert from log to a Rec.709 base using a manufacturer LUT.This is the starting point, not the finished grade.
- 3Use AI color matchUse AI color match in DaVinci Resolve or Colourlab.ai to align shots.AI matching saves hours on multi-camera shoots.
- 4Build a primary lookAdjust contrast, saturation, and color balance to create your signature look.Your signature look is a brand asset; save it as a LUT.
- 5Add secondary gradesSelectively grade skin tones and skies using qualifiers.Skin tone consistency is the biggest pro-versus-amateur tell.
- 6Export at the right depthExport 10-bit if possible for grading-friendly delivery.8-bit exports cause banding in skies and skin gradients.
